Pavel, can you remember how many years you got an interest in cars?
Since the early childhood. Everything is as always: girls like dolls, boys like cars. By a happy coincidence, my parents sent me to a sports school at DOSAAF. There, for several years I was engaged in karting, until a crisis occurred in the country. Continuing was already very expensive.

For a comfortable movement around the city and trips to the country, according to Pavel, a 1.6-liter engine is quite suitable, although our hero regrets that his Rio has a 4-speed and not a new 6-speed automatic transmission. But fuel consumption is still moderate: Paul’s car burns an average of 8 liters of gas per “hundred”.

Are you still a fan of fast driving today? Or has something changed over the years?
It all depends on my mood and the weather. What to cheat, I love a fast ride. But if there is someone else in the cabin besides me, then I will move smoothly. Very often you have to ride on the highway and, as a rule, always with a child. Therefore, for example, I do not risk overtaking two trucks in one go. Just for security reasons - the self-preservation instinct prevails. I ride with my head.
But if desired, Kia Rio can, what is called, "set the heat"?
Can. I was convinced of this even before buying a car - on vacation. Upon arrival in the Crimea, we had a choice - which car to rent? We needed an inexpensive and at the same time modern car. We were offered to take the Kia Rio sedan. But in Crimea there are many empty paths, there is where to accelerate. And I liked Rio’s speed behavior! The car honestly performed everything I was waiting for. Fair value for money is a huge plus for Rio.

External tuning regarding Kia Rio the hero does not accept. He is sure that outside interference will not only spoil the car’s external aesthetics, but also deprive him of a number of functional advantages. As for the "filling", here you can experiment if you wish. For example, Paul is about to install a rear view camera.

And what about handling, what can you say? Does the car hold the road well? How does it respond to commands?
The severity of the steering more than suits me, if we talk about obedience to the car. I like the way he rides, the suspension swallows all the bumps and pits. On road performance there are no complaints.
As for the engine, the 1.6-liter engine suits me, but the automatic ... I have a dorestyling car and its gearbox is 4-speed. With her, of course, you have to turn the motor. If I bought a restyled Rio, on which they began to put a 6-speed automatic transmission, it would probably be more comfortable. And fuel consumption would be less.
In the cold season, I ride a regular Velcro - I don’t understand the use of spikes in the city. Yes, it’s slippery in winter, but Kia Rio always keeps the situation under control.
In addition, I am very pleased with the clearance of this car. I always know for sure that I can climb, for example, onto the curb to leave with someone in a narrow courtyard. And since I like to go picking mushrooms, sometimes I have to make my way to the forest. For Kia Rio, this is not a question at all. I had to ride in the fields and on the embankment. If the rain has passed, of course, you can slip. But still, I’m sure that the car will drive itself out everywhere and it won’t let me down.

According to the hero, the steering wheel in a car has several advantages at once. The first is the availability of a heating system. The second is a pleasant to the touch and durable leather lining. The owner of Kia Rio admits: sitting in an already warm chair and grabbing a warm steering wheel with your hands is a great pleasure.

Pavel, what determined your choice when buying a car? What guided you?
On vacation, I rented this model, so we met. Like any adequate person, before buying, I read the reviews of the owners of Kia Rio. It was interesting that people wrote what troubles could happen. Pricing policy also played a role. It was important for me to know how much the annual cost of ownership costs. I looked at the consumables, maintenance, calculated the approximate cost of hull insurance - everything suited me. This machine does not require large investments.
In addition, I noticed that our taxi drivers are very fond of Kia Rio. Previously, they all drove a Hyundai Accent, because this car was considered the most reliable in its price segment. Now I often see checkered Rio. In fact, this fact speaks for itself, and it influenced me. I understand that taxi drivers are not looking for bad cars. There are lots of cheaper models - the same Chinese brands. But they are not so welcomed in a taxi.
Why did you get a hatchback? And besides, red?
I came to the dealer and told me what I need, what I roughly want. They immediately showed me the Kia Rio hatchback, which was available. It was red. I can say that I immediately liked this color very much - it is non-standard. There are a lot of white cars, and the red Kia Rio looks unusual. And when my wife drives a car, it’s important for me to understand that the red color makes Rio more visible in the stream, which means the spouse is safer. In addition, I am deeply convinced that white and black cars are the most easily soiled. In the summer I left the sink, the wind blew - and the car was already dirty. You can drive in the second round.
Hatchback is also a plus. Incidentally, it is slightly smaller than a sedan, and its review is excellent - accordingly, there are no parking problems. In addition, just recently I had a summer residence, and I was able to once again see how convenient it is to have a car in such a body. In the hatchback, you can load much more overall things than in the same sedan. The most voluminous of what I managed to transport on this car is a wood fireplace for a wooden country house. Naturally, the back seat had to be folded here. If necessary, you can safely put a boat, gear, a tent in a hatchback and go fishing with friends somewhere in Astrakhan.
Are there all the functions you need in this machine? In addition, did you put anything?
Fair? I can’t even remember what I’m missing here for a calm and comfortable movement around the city. There is no such.
But I would like to additionally install a rear view camera. There are parking sensors, but the camera of my car was not provided. In my configuration there is a multifunctional multimedia system, its monitor allows you to put the camera. Parking will become easier and faster, and my wife, who sometimes drives, will feel more confident.
Even when buying a car, I successfully got to the winter campaign and received a package of "Warm Options" with heated front seats, wiper area on the windshield and steering wheel. In winter, I don’t need to run around the car, tear off the wiper blades in the morning if they freeze. And there is no need to sit in gloves and wait for the steering wheel to warm up, breathe on it. He is always warm, good. Let's be honest, the car is inexpensive, but there is even something that more expensive cars are not always equipped with. Although the restyled version has a heating of the entire windshield, and for me - only the wiper zones.
Is there enough headlight for you to move in the dark?
Yes, it is quite. True, there are no washers in the car. I try to drop into the sink once every two to three days, but the headlights still manage to get dirty. You have to constantly wipe them to drive safely.

Passengers can sit quite freely in the cabin. Despite his tall stature, Pavel can calmly stretch his legs without pushing his chair back all the way.As our hero notes, the Kia Rio driver does not need to make sacrifices for the convenience of second-row passengers. Roomy interior, the same can be said about the luggage compartment.

Do you really wash your car so often? Why?
It always has been, I have such a fad. Moreover, it does not matter if it is dirty on the street or not. When one of my friends asks why to wash the car so often, I ask the answer: "Well, you also wash every day. But why? All the same, then sweat." Everyone usually smiles, something with a grin answers me.
Sitting in a dirty cabin and feeling like a pig is not very nice either. By the way, they say that if a family has a child, and the car is used for family trips, then seats in leather upholstery are much more practical. I can argue with that. Since I took the car out of stock, I could not choose the trim - the seats in my Rio are fitted with structural fabric. But I am not at all disappointed; it is very clean. My son always drives behind me, eats cookies, rolls. But see for yourself - everything is clean. All crumbs are quickly cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. And the color is dark, non-marking.
What can you as a Kia Rio owner say about sound insulation? In the cabin you can not hear the rumble of wheels, the engine?
It is audible, but I philosophically find in it pluses. As a driver, it is important for me to hear both the engine and the wheels. This is a kind of communication with the car. True, I put the dealer in the fenders with noise insulation. Without them, it was much less comfortable. Although much still depends on the road surface, and on tires. For example, now I have the original Korean tires and, moving along the Simferopol highway, I calmly talk with my passengers in an undertone. But the noise of the engine at speed does not disappear: if I had a 6-band automatic, it would, of course, be better.
Have you had any breakdowns? Even insignificant.
No, there was nothing, only an expendable part. Timely service saves me from such troubles. And it struck me that for all the time I had never heard that the machine was creaking somewhere. Sometimes you travel by taxi on holidays - the lounge is noisy! I was afraid that the same thing would happen here. I was already mentally prepared to glue the “torpedo” so that it would not creak. But the car saved me money, I did not have to do this. At Kia Rio, everything is simple and reliable. And I am always sure that the car will start tomorrow.
