The frankness of this bathing suit seems inherent in our time, but in fact its history has been around for two thousand years!

The first image of a bikini - or at least clothing that is very similar to it - was preserved on the ancient Roman mosaics of Villa Romana del Casale in Sicily. Moreover, such an outfit was implied not so much for swimming as for sports. Formally, these were literally two strips covering the chest and hips, but such openness in the future history of mankind was not encouraged for a very long time. In the Middle Ages, for example, women could swim in open water only in long, closed shirts of dense linen.
The relief began only at the end of the XIXth, when women began to gradually regain their right to play sports and, of course, demonstrate their bodies without constant prohibitions and feelings of shame. The First World War, by the way, contributed to this - the post-war deficit and the wave of joy in life that swept people, allowed women to enjoy the same bathing much more openly. And although the belly, chest and hips were still covered, a start was made!
Finally, in 1946, dancer Micheline Bernardini performed in the first bikini: an open separate swimsuit, named after the Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. It was there that the nuclear bomb tests were first conducted.Today, such an analogy seems ridiculous and even blasphemous, but then the creators of this outfit implied that it should produce the “burst bomb effect”.

Gradually, not without the participation of actresses and models such as Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot, the bikini became more and more open, going to extremes! In the 60s, one could see bikinis in the form of triangles on ties that barely covered the chest and pubis.

But under the influence of new discoveries - for example, warnings by doctors and scientists that ultraviolet can cause breast cancer, - swimwear has become more modest, and today too frank models on the beaches are quite rare, although, of course, from all the existing styles of bathing suits, the bikini remains number one.

Especially popular are models in a fashionable linen style. It is absolutely not necessary that it be lace, which really makes the swimwear very similar to underwear, even the color scheme - delicate white and cream shades is quite enough.

Pay attention also to knitted swimwear - this is an option for true connoisseurs!

Also among the most popular swimwear of 2017 will be bikinis decorated with fringe, sequins and a variety of lacing.
