Books, TV, computer - our eyes are experiencing serious stress. How to maintain vision in the age of information technology?

Statistics is inexorable: every fifth inhabitant of the Earth suffers from myopia. And, unfortunately, these ranks are constantly replenished, mainly due to young people. Given that about 80 percent of information a person receives through the organs of vision, it is not surprising that over the past 100 years, due to the development of information technology, the eye strain has increased 20 times. They are not adapted to long-term static load at a close distance from the subject. But, experts say, even with a high risk of myopia, its development can be prevented - and much depends on us here.

Advice Visit your ophthalmologist annually, even if you have no complaints about vision. Early prevention and timely detection of the disease is the main condition for maintaining good vision.

TIRED VIEW

In recent years, the term "computer visual syndrome" has appeared in ophthalmology. You can recognize it yourself. If during work the eyes quickly get tired, turn red, there is a feeling that sand has got into them, lacrimation begins, there is a desire to close your eyes - all the signs of the ill-fated syndrome are evident.

In addition, by the end of the working day, doubling of distant objects, blurring and fogging of the “picture” may appear, I want to squint to better see it.These are signs of false (temporary) myopia: due to eye muscle fatigue, the accommodation mechanism is disturbed, which allows focusing on the subject regardless of the distance at which it is located. Often the day ends with a headache, and the reason also lies in the fatigue of the eyes.

Tip How long do you work at a computer? Blink more often. Looking at the screen, the eye seems to freeze and lose its natural lubrication. Hence the symptoms of “dry eyes”: sand in the eyes, lacrimation, etc. To avoid these unpleasant sensations, use preparations of natural and artificial tears. Those who wear contact lenses will benefit from moisturizing drops with hyaluronic acid. It is also important that the room maintains normal humidity.

CHARGING FOR EYES

With normal vision, every 40 minutes you need to take a break from work, with poor eyesight - after 10-15 minutes. Feel free to remind yourself of your rest with a timer on your desktop. As soon as there is free time, do a small workout, alternating between various exercises.

● - Close your eyes tightly for 3-5 seconds, then open. Blink quickly for 30 seconds, then for the same amount of time look motionless in front of you. Get to the window, move your eyes several times from distant objects to closer ones.

- ● - Exercise "Through the fingers." Bend your arms so that your palms are just below eye level. Open your fingers. Make smooth head turns left and right, while looking through your fingers, into the distance, and not at them. Let the glance glide over without stopping at one thing. If you do everything right, your hands will “float” past you: you should think that they are moving.

● - Draw a circle of 50 cm in diameter on a piece of paper, hang it on the wall at a convenient distance from the eyes. Move your eyes from the center of the circle along the radii, first right-left, then up and down. Fix the gaze below (at 6 o’clock) and describe with your eyes a complete circle, first right and then left. After, describe with your eyes the "eight" inside the circle.

On the first day, do two such cycles, then go to 6-8 cycles, adding one cycle per day. Do the exercise 1 time per day for a month, then a 2 week break.

- ● - Quick removal of eyestrain will help palming - artificial darkening of the eyes. Place your elbows on the edge of the table, close your eyes and cover them with your palms so that the little fingers are located on the bridge of the nose. Try to relax for 5-20 minutes.

Useful Tips

● - If you see poorly at different distances, use special glasses with progressive lenses. They will replace two pairs of glasses - for near and far, and the eyes will be less tired.

● -Remember: alcohol, smoking, direct sunlight, lack of sleep, dehydration are poorly reflected in our eyesight.

TASTY AND HEALTHY

To maintain good vision, adjust your menu. Often include cottage cheese, kefir, boiled fish, beef, beef tongue, turkey, rabbit in it. Eat carrot, cabbage, and pumpkin dishes daily. In summer, lean on strawberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, as well as lingonberries, cranberries. And do not forget about fresh herbs!

In winter, brew hawthorn berries rich in carotene and vitamin C (1 tbsp.spoon per glass of water). Drink with honey to taste.

In addition, 2-3 times a year, take a course of multivitamin preparations with calcium, vitamins D and R.

FULL RELAX

MASSAGE

With it, you can relax the muscles and improve the blood supply to the eyeball. Close your eyes and with your index fingers massage your eyelids in a circular motion for 1 minute. Then, with three fingers, gently press the eyeball, linger for 1-2 seconds and relax.

Repeat 3-4 times.

COMPRESSIONS

Put thin slices of raw potatoes on your eyelids. After 5 minutes, remove. Instead of potatoes, you can use slices of cucumber or make a compress from a strong tea brew. The eyes will not only rest, but also shine, and the wrinkles around them will be smoothed out.

SHOWER

With prolonged eye strain, spray cold water from the tap several times on them. This procedure can be done regularly in the morning and evening when washing, alternating cool and warm water.
