Create an unusual and incredibly beautiful outfit in the spirit of garden trends, blooming at the shows of Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, MiuMiu, using the voluminous decor with fancy flowers in fabric.
You will need:
- tailor pins;
- ruler;
- measuring tape;
- bright thread or lace;
- scissors, threads, needle
In fact, flowering volumetric roses in this product are ruffles sewn along the bottom of the dress in a circle and along curved lines.
Step 1. Measurements
Determine the place and size of the decorated plot and divide it equally into several parts - according to the number of future flowers.
In the photo, the bottom of the shelf is divided into 3 parts. Labels can be put using a marker or pin.
Determine the height - the highest points of sewing ruffle. And put a mark.
The selected height is 9.5 cm.
Lay the thread or lace with spirals and waves on the decorated area.
Pins - tags for the formation of the same flowers.
The resulting line is the place of the future stitching line of ruffles.
Cut the thread.
Outline the resulting line with a marker or chalk. This line is a guideline for sewing ruffles.
Remove the thread from the product and measure. This is the required length of the ruffle in the finished form - 75 cm.
Next, you need to determine the coefficient of selection of ruffle.
Try on an unnecessary flap and see how the fabric behaves in an assembled form.
I determined the pick-up coefficient, in this case it is 2. That is, the length of the ruff in the cut is 75 cm * 2 = 150 cm.
We also determine the width of the part. It depends on your idea. Please note that the quilling folds in half. That is, if the height of the "bud" in my product is 6.5 cm, then the width of the ruff should be 11 cm. And to this width you need to add allowances for the edge treatment. I will process the edges of the "flowers" with the help of an overlock role seam, so I add 0.5 cm to the width of the ruffle.
Thus, the dimensions of the detail of the ruffle in the cut turned out: length 150 cm and width 11.5 cm.
How to pick up fabric
Step 2. Processing ruffles
Next, you need to process slices of ruffle. The following options are possible: single or double hem, zigzag stitching, wide overlock processing of sections in 3 and 4 threads, 3-thread roller seam, and “buds” with a raw edge will also be interesting to look at.
As the processing of sections, I chose an overlock role seam.

Process the first long cut of the ruffle with the part facing up.
Treat the second long section of the ruffle, placing the part face down.
Thus, it turns out that when folding the ruff in half along both overlock lines will be located “face” upwards, and the wrong side of the seam will not be visible.
Cut short sections of the part.
Here is what should happen. The processed sections can be further stretched to the sides to form beautiful wavy “petals”.
Fold the quilling in half lengthwise and iron. The fold will be a guideline for the dressing line and will help in the formation of "flowers".
Lay a sewing line along the bend: the stitch length is 4-5 mm, the thread tension is minimal. At the beginning and at the end of the stitch, do not fasten and leave long ends of the threads.
Squeeze the part to the desired length by pulling on the lower threads. Tie strong knots at the ends. Evenly fold creases throughout the part.
Assembled part.
Fasten the folds by laying a stitch along them with normal thread tension and a stitch length of 2 mm.

Step 3. Formation of "flowers"
Start laying out ruffles on the decorated part along the line outlined in the first step, gradually fixing it with pins, as shown in the photo.
Having fixed the whole part with pins and having formed the necessary number of "colors", try on the product and evaluate how even and equal they turned out. If necessary, adjust the ruffles and fix them again.
Stitch ruffles on the decorated part, as shown in the photo, gradually removing the pins and turning the product.
The stitch length is 2 mm; at the beginning and at the end of the stitch, sew the stitches.
The threads of the stitching line to remove. Steam the decor and iron the product.
Done!
So the decor looks in the finished product.

Washing
It is better to wash this product by hand, leaving the decor outside the water tank.
If it is necessary to wash the decor, then it is also carefully washed manually. No spin. Then the product is shaken and left to dry on a hanger.
Ironing
If the flowers are very wrinkled, you can iron each side of the ruffle, gradually turning the product, and then iron the product itself.
If the fabric is not too dense, the decor can simply be steamed.
