I create interior panels - tapestries and textile decorations,” our today's heroine writes about herself. “Whether it’s a woven pendant or a tapestry growing from me, I follow the same pattern: I collect information for inspiration, draw sketches, select materials suitable for color and texture. And only then I start weaving. "
Irina says that the work that laid the foundation for a new stage in her work was the creation of a large-scale tapestry, crowning the studies at the university. She studied in St. Petersburg, receiving a specialty "Interior Art" ,. The main direction was work with art textiles. “Each semester, we designed a decorative composition on a given topic and embodied it in the material for the next six months. Techniques were different: hand weaving - tapestry; hot, cold and nodular batik; applique; embroidery and other textile experiments,” writes Irina. The peak of training was the creation of a graduation project.In her blog, the artist tells how difficult this large-scale work was given to her, but one way or another, the matter was completed: a very unusual tapestry turned out, the composition of which was based on the story of Atlantis that went into obscurity. To obtain a diverse woven surface, the artist used threads of different thickness and composition, color stretch marks, the addition of sisal fibers and other techniques, most of which she resorted to now in creating her works.
